Day 1 - Starting: Lima & Finishing: Lima
Get acquainted with Lima's historical landmarks and pleasant parks on a guided downtown walking tour. The vibrant suburb of Miraflores, packed with lively bars and atmospheric restaurants, is a great place to while away evening hours.
Day 2-3 - Starting: Amazon Jungle & Finishing: Amazon Jungle
Fly to the frontier town of Puerto Maldonado and travel by canoe into the dense Amazon Jungle. Search for macaws, monkeys, peccaries, jabirus and otters on a nature walk through this amazing ecosystem and learn about the medicinal properties and practical uses of various plants from your local guide.
Day 4-5 - Starting: Cuzco & Finishing: Cuzco
Fly into Cuzco, the epicentre of traditional Peruvian culture. A great town to explore on foot, discover the city's colonial churches and museums or make for the ancient Inca ruins peppering the surrounding hillsides.
Day 6 - Starting: Ollantaytambo & Finishing: Ollantaytambo
Travel through the lushly terraced Sacred Valley, stopping off en route at a local village to gain insight into the lifestyles and customs of Peru's rural population. Head up the ruins of Ollantaytambo for a lesson in Inca urban planning and spectacular views across the landscape.
Day 7 - Starting: Aguas Calientes & Finishing: Aguas Calientes
Travel by train along the Urubamba river to Aguas Calientes.
Day 8-9 - Starting: Cuzco & Finishing: Cuzco
Rise early for the chance to watch Machu Picchu's imposing structure emerge from the mist in the morning light. Learn about the sight's history on a tour with a local guide, then return to Cuzco for some further time getting to know this charming colonial city.

Day 12-13 - Starting: La Paz & Finishing: La Paz
Cross into Bolivia and journey on to the country's unofficial capital, La Paz. Spend time wandering the city's narrow streets and laneways savouring Bolivian cuisine, or head for the Museo de Coca for the inside scoop on the world's most controversial plant before this South American adventure winds up.
Day 14-15 - Starting: Santiago & Finishing: Santiago
With the picturesque Plaza de Armas, thriving cafe culture, eclectic array of shops, booming arts scene and vibrant night-life, Santiago is a fun and rewarding capital to explore and makes for an excellent introduction to South America.
Day 16-17 - Starting: Mendoza & Finishing: Mendoza
Cross over the Andes into Mendoza, Argentina. Learn about local winemaking on a vineyard tour and take the chance to sample some Malbec wine - the region's signature variety. Enjoy laid-back afternoons in the plaza cafes of the beautiful city centre, then when the sun goes down head for the lively bars and clubs of Aristides Villanueva street.
Day 18-19 - Starting: Buenos Aires & Finishing: Buenos Aires
Head out to a traditional Argentine estancia and learn the skills of a gaucho.
Day 20-21 - Starting: Buenos Aires & Finishing: Buenos Aires
Displaying strong European influences, Buenos Aires is a top spot to shop, dine, drink and celebrate life. Stroll the streets of unique barrios such as colonial San Telmo or Recoleta, home to many interesting museums. The eclectic array of boutiques are an excellent destination for fashionistas and the bars and restaurants will satisfy even the most refined culinary cravings.
